Workplace policy. Where, when, and how we work.

This page is the policy, not a summary of one. It applies to employees, interns, and volunteers alike, and it changes only in public.

Where

eclean is remote-first. The operating and employing company is eclean Labs AB in Sweden, and the work happens wherever the person doing it lives. Hired outside of Sweden, as an employee or a contractor, you are managed through one of our employer-of-record partners in your own country. Nobody is asked to relocate or commute.

When

Hours are flexible and the default is asynchronous. What matters is that the work ships and that a release window has the people it needs, not when anyone's day starts. Deep work is protected by default, meetings have to earn their slot, and time off is taken rather than banked as a virtue.

How

In the open. Decisions are written down where the team and the community can read them, changes ship with release notes, and most conversations happen in shared channels rather than direct messages. If a thing matters, it exists in writing, which is also what makes flexible hours actually work.

Tools and security

The work lives in shared repositories, shared channels, and written documents, so nothing important sits on one person's laptop. Access is scoped to the work at hand, and anything that touches user data follows the practices published in the trust center.

Meeting in person

Meeting in person is a deliberate event rather than a default. When a gathering happens, the plan is shared early, attendance stays optional, and the health side is covered by the vaccine policy.

Looking after each other

The culture commitments govern how we treat each other and the community, in every channel, and they are signed documents rather than posters on a wall. If something here fails you, saying so in the open is the expected move, not a brave one.
