Environmental sustainability
Commitment 4 of 6
eclean Labs makes maintenance software, and that is also our environmental position. Every year a working computer stays in service is a year no replacement needs to be mined, manufactured, shipped, and eventually discarded.
Most PCs are not replaced because they are broken. They are replaced because they feel slow. That feeling is usually neglect, and neglect is fixable. A maintenance tool that actually maintains does more against electronic waste than any pledge we could print here, so the first commitment is simply to do our job well.
Here is what we commit this company to, for as long as it exists.
First. The product's job is longevity. We build eclean to keep machines useful for years longer, and we treat "buy a new PC" as the outcome to prevent, not to profit from.
Second. Light software, always. A tool that fights waste cannot itself waste, so we treat idle background work as a defect, and your CPU cycles and battery as costs, not free resources.
Third. Little to burn. eclean Labs stays remote by design, with no office of our own, no commutes, and nothing physical to manufacture or ship. We travel rarely and deliberately.
Fourth. Suppliers that show their numbers. Where we buy infrastructure, we prefer providers that publish their environmental figures over those that ask to be trusted.
Fifth. Measured when it matters. If this company grows to where its footprint is worth measuring, we will measure it and publish it with the rest of our numbers, dips included.
This commitment is amended only in public, and the current version is always this page.
