Work-life balance

Commitment 2 of 6

eclean is trusted with people's daily machines, and that trust is not built by exhausted people. We plan in decades, which only works if the people building this can stay for one.

Our industry celebrates the crunch of launch weeks, hero hours, and midnight deploys, and then wonders why quality and people leave together. The manifesto already promises users that we ship a change when we can explain and reverse it, not when a calendar says so. The same patience applies to the people doing the shipping.

Here is what we commit this company to, for as long as it exists.

First. Hours stay human. Nobody is expected to answer at night, on weekends, or on vacation, and overwork is treated as a planning failure, not a badge of commitment.

Second. Remote and asynchronous by default. Founders in two time zones taught us to write things down instead of requiring presence. Where you work is yours, and when you work is arranged around your life, not a clock.

Third. Vacation means absence. Time off is taken, not banked, and nobody is praised for shipping from the beach.

Fourth. Dates move. People do not break. When a deadline and quality collide, the deadline loses. "Slow is fine" is a promise to the team as much as to users.

Fifth. Life outranks work. Family, health, and emergencies come first, with no justification owed.

This commitment is amended only in public, and the current version is always this page.
